How to Order Corporate Catering

Corporate catering has become more sophisticated, no longer are employers stuck with outrageously large subway sandwiches that leave employees picking off lettuce and other unwanted toppings during lunch-hour meetings. Instead, corporate caterers offer healthy, eye and taste-bud appealing meals that range greatly in expense and size. While placing an order through a corporate caterer is relatively easy, there are some things to consider before picking up the phone. The following is four steps to consider when ordering corporate catering.

  1. Know the rules – Every building and venue has its own set of rules regarding food and catering. Before making the decision to hire a caterer, check with the authoritative figure regarding this matter. Make sure you know where the food is to be delivered including the building entrance that should be used and the room that is available to setup in. Ensure this room has the accommodations a caterer might need such as tables, electrical outlets, and close access to a sink or refrigerator.
  2. Know the budget – More so then ever before being economically conscious is important. Determine how much you are willing to spend before ever picking up a menu. If you have a realistic food budget in place, you are also better prepared to negotiate menu prices and not overspend.
  3. Plan ahead – Determine how many people will attend the meeting or function that requires catering. If this number is undetermined, be sure to ask the caterer when the cutoff date and time is to add or delete the amount of people being served. Also keep in mind that it is always a good idea to leave a little wiggle room for a few additional people. It’s better to send people home with a few leftovers then to leave people hungry.
  4. Be prepared to pay – More often than not, corporate caterers will require partial or full payment upfront. Be prepared to pay in advance.

By taking some extra time to prepare, placing a catering order for your corporate function can be easier for everyone involved. Don’t forget to know the rules, know the budget, plan ahead, and be prepared to pay in the future. These four steps will save you plenty of time in the long.
